Srinagar, (DD): In a major step toward institutional support and transparent governance, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday launched a dedicated web portal to address the needs of terrorism-affected families in Jammu and Kashmir.

The portal—developed by the Home Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC)—aims to simplify and accelerate the process of granting relief, ex-gratia compensation, and compassionate appointments to the victims and their next of kin.

“It’s a commitment to justice. This platform will ensure that every legitimate claim is formally recorded, verified, and addressed without delay,” LG Sinha said while launching the portal.

The initiative will maintain district-wise records of victim families, including details of any encroachments on their prope3rties, and will help eliminate bogus or duplicate claims, officials said.

To further strengthen the grievance redressal mechanism, toll-free helplines have been established at the offices of the Divisional Commissioners in Jammu (0191-2478995) and Kashmir (0194-2487777). These are linked to dedicated control rooms and trained staff who will assist citizens in registering pending or overlooked claims.

Additionally, Special Monitoring Cells have been created in the offices of the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure oversight, track delays, and coordinate with relevant departments.

Senior officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, and senior NIC officials attended the launch event in person and virtually.

The initiative is being widely welcomed as a digital leap toward accountability, transparency, and timely justice for the families who have long borne the brunt of militancy(DD)
