Jammu, (DD) Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJP MLA Sunil Sharma has strongly criticized former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for opposing the Union Home Ministry’s decision to ban the Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Ittehadul Muslimeen (JKIM).
Welcoming the ban, Sharma stated, “These organizations were working against India’s unity. The BJP fully supports the decision to outlaw them under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).”
Taking a swipe at Mehbooba Mufti, he accused the PDP of having separatist roots, saying, “The PDP has always been aligned with radical and anti-India forces. Every time such elements are curbed, Mehbooba Mufti expresses her anguish, exposing her party’s true ideology.”
Sharma also criticized Congress leader Rashid Alvi’s remarks on alleged targeting of Muslims, asserting that divisive politics would no longer be tolerated.
The Union Home Ministry has imposed a five-year ban on both AAC and JKIM, citing their involvement in activities threatening national security.(DD)
