Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai Appointed Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy)

To Continue as DGMO; Honoured for Role in Operation Sindoor

New Delhi, (DD) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, who played a pivotal role in Operation Sindoor, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), the Defence Ministry announced today.

Lt Gen Ghai will also continue to serve as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO). The key position is responsible for overseeing India’s operational and intelligence strategy, ensuring coordination across critical missions.

Recognised for his distinguished service, Lt Gen Ghai was recently awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, one of the nation’s highest honours for exceptional leadership in conflict zones.

His dual role underscores the Army’s trust in his strategic expertise at a time of evolving security challenges, both along the borders and in internal operations.(DD)
