Jammu :DD- Sanskriti Jain, Student of M.Sc. Biotechnology at the Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu had the privilege of attending a week-long workshop on molecular biology at IISER Pune. The program was a perfect blend of theory and practice, designed to immerse participants in advanced molecular techniques. This experience not only enhanced her technical skills but also deepened her passion for molecular biology research. The workshop began with an introduction to lab safety and pipetting, setting a strong foundation for the week ahead.

Sanskriti learned about plasmid extraction, PCR for insert preparation, and the principles of cloning. An industrial visit also offered insights into the application of biotechnology in real-world scenarios. The highlight of the workshop for her was exploring the regulation of gene expression through RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, and qPCR.

Sanskriti also learned about the high-end facilities at IISER, Pune. These sessions exposed me to the broader scope of biotechnological research. She reflected on the opportunity availed as the workshop was more than just a learning experience it was an opportunity to interact with like-minded peers and experts in the field. Each day brought new challenges and discoveries, reinforcing my decision to pursue molecular biology as a career.

The Centre for Molecular Biology at CUJ,under the leadership, support and vision of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain is committed to learning and excelling of their students in the high-end skill building through exposure to high end workshops in and outside institutions through collaboration and making availability of opportunities. Such initiatives highlight the university’s dedication to comprehensive education, preparing students for successful futures in biotechnology and beyond. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain congratulated the student and emphasized on the skill building in molecular biology to address health and environment related problems for societal benefits and effective implementation of BIOE3 policy of GOI. Dr. Narendra K Bairwa, director of the CMBa appreciated the efforts of students for her participation in the workshop.DD
