Major General Anupinder Bevli Visits Shri Krishan Chander Government Degree College, Poonch to Inspire NCC Cadets

Poonch : DD, In a landmark visit aimed at reinforcing the NCC framework and motivating young cadets, Major General Anupinder Bevli, VSM, Additional Director General of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate NCC, accompanied by Brigadier DN Pandey, Group Commander Jammu NCC, visited Shri Krishan Chander Government Degree College (SKC GDC), Poonch. The visit marked a significant milestone in the college’s NCC journey, focusing on reviewing the progress of the unit and inspiring cadets to reach greater heights. Upon arrival, the dignitaries were warmly received by Prof. Jasbir Singh, Principal of SKC GDC, Col. Naresh Kaushik, Commanding Officer of 5 J&K Battalion NCC, Lt. (Dr.) Yougish Kumar Sharma, ANO Boys Wing, and Assistant Professor Mehnaz Kouser, CTO Girls Wing, along with the Principals and ANOs from nearby colleges and schools in Poonch District. The NCC cadets of the college, dressed smartly, presented a Guard of Honour, impressing the visitors with their discipline and precision. The visit commenced with the National Anthem and an interactive session with the cadets, during which the NCC unit presented their annual activity report. The cadets also showcased the history of Poonch Linkup Day and highlighted their achievements in national-level events, including blood donation camps, yoga sessions, and trekking expeditions, demonstrating their dedication to service and self-improvement. In a special moment of recognition, Major General Anupinder Bevli awarded the prestigious Director General NCC Commendation Card to Junior Under Officer Mahima Maini for her exceptional performance at the National Level Shooting Championship, further motivating the cadets to strive for excellence in their respective fields. In his address to the cadets, Major General Bevli lauded their hard work and exceptional achievements. He also shared a personal connection to the region, recalling how his grandfather served as an Education Inspector in Poonch in the 1930s and his own tenure as a Colonel in the Rajouri-Poonch area. The ADG emphasized the Government of India’s commitment to empowering NCC cadets, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to expand NCC participation to 25 lakh cadets across the nation. He announced plans to increase the strength of the 5 J&K Battalion NCC Poonch from 2800 to 3500 cadets, with a special focus on enhancing female participation. Furthermore, the ADG acknowledged the growing participation of cadets from Poonch and Rajouri districts in national-level camps and training programs and urged the cadets to further elevate this trend. He also highlighted the opportunity for NCC cadets to participate in overseas deployment camps, offering them invaluable global exposure. Major General Bevli encouraged the cadets to fully engage in the NCC’s diverse activities, push their limits, and strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives. He reiterated that the NCC not only serves as a training ground for leadership and discipline but also plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, an inspection of the NCC office and a group photograph, capturing the significance of the occasion. This visit not only reinforced the strong relationship between the armed forces and educational institutions but also inspired a renewed sense of purpose among the NCC cadets, motivating them to contribute to the nation’s growth and security.DD
