Kishtwar, DD, The vital road link between Kishtwar and Paddar has been closed yet again following a massive landslide in the Patranki area, which caused a significant section of the road to sink entirely, bringing vehicular movement to a complete standstill.
The incident has led to major disruption for local residents and travellers, and has also forced the suspension of the famed Machail Mata Yatra. Authorities have urged devotees to refrain from embarking on the pilgrimage until the route is officially deemed safe.
“The road is currently unsafe for travel. We appeal to all pilgrims to await further instructions before attempting the journey,” said a senior administrative official.
Relief and restoration efforts are reportedly underway, but persistent rainfall and treacherous terrain are hindering progress. The affected stretch in Patranki has long been recognised as highly susceptible to landslides, with recurring incidents highlighting the urgent need for a permanent and robust solution.
The district administration is monitoring the situation closely, but concerns remain high as weather conditions continue to pose challenges to repair operations and public safety (DD)
