Renowned as the sacred site where Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva united in holy matrimony, this temple draws devotees from far and wide.
Situated in the Chenani Tehsil of Udhampur district, Mantalai is revered for its association with the divine couple. Legend has it that Lord Shiva’s wedding procession traversed the Himalayas and culminated at this very spot. The local populace was awe-struck by the celestial gathering, which included celestial beings and mythical creatures.
The temple complex houses a small but exquisitely carved shrine dedicated to Goddess Parvati as a maiden. Additionally, there are captivating idols depicting Shiva and Parvati together, as well as a family portrait of the divine trio including Lord Ganesha. The heart of the temple, however, is the Shiva lingam, symbolizing Lord Shiva himself.
