Massive Participation Marks Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Kishtwar

District Level Pad Yatra Commemorates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th Jayanti

Kishtwar: DD, The District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat and under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), organized a grand and vibrant celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, along with celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,Iron Man of India.

The district came alive with an inspiring display of unity, culture, and traditional heritage through a series of well-coordinated events.

A District Level Pad Yatra was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Kishtwar under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The event also honoured the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, reinforcing the ideals of national unity and integrity. Thousands of participants—including officers of the civil and police administration, students, Officials, artists, Teachers, tribals,TOT MY Bharat members, volunteers from MY Bharat, and members of the public—joined with enthusiasm.

The celebration began with the flag-off of the District Level Pad Yatra from TRC Kishtwar, led by Nodal Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh. Pawan Kotwal (JKAS).

After the National Anthem and Unity Pledge, participants marched from TRC Kishtwar to GDC Kishtwar, spreading messages of tribal pride, cultural identity, and national harmony.

At GDC Kishtwar, the formal programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, followed by a welcome address by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, who highlighted the importance of preserving and celebrating tribal heritage.

Various departments, including Handloom and Agriculture, set up impressive stalls showcasing traditional crafts, indigenous produce, and local heritage. Artisans presented live demonstrations of weaving and clay utensil-making, reflecting the unique craftsmanship deeply rooted in tribal culture.

A diverse and captivating cultural programme unfolded, featuring Buddhist cultural dances, Gujri songs and dances, and performances by renowned artists such as Gojri singer Bashir Mastana and Buddhist singer Tashi Rock. The tribal community performed a dynamic Gatka dance, showcasing their martial traditions and adding a powerful visual element to the event. Additionally, groups of tribal people presented traditional tribal songs, celebrating their rich oral traditions and cultural identity. Colourful dance performances by students from various schools further enriched the festivities.

Similar programmes were organized at the Sub-Division, Tehsil, and Block levels across the district, ensuring inclusive participation and widespread observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.

The event concluded with a Felicitation Ceremony and a Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation for the contributions of participating departments, cultural groups, and volunteers. The District Administration extended heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in ensuring the smooth, meaningful, and successful conduct of the celebrations.DD
