Kishtwar, DD.Today ,under the directions of District Magistrate Kishtwar . Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), an awareness campaign on three new criminal laws at HSS Ayar Trigam.
The programme was organised by BDO Trigam Roopesh Sharma to educate the public about three new criminal laws that came into effect on July 1, 2024 viz. i) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC), ii ) Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) – replacing the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and iii) Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – replacing the Indian Evidence Act.
Om Parkash DDC member presided over the function as chief guest. The guests of honour over the function were Ramesh Kumar Principal, HSS Ayar Trigam, Roopesh Sharma BDO, Trigam and Sub Inspector Rajveer Singh I/c Police Post, Shalimar who also served as resource person at the occasion.
A large number of people from the adjoining areas and Panchayat participated in the awareness campaign.
There was also large gathering of students as well as school staff at the awareness campaign.
Sub Inspector Rajveer Singh delivered a thread bare lecture on all three new criminal laws and aware the participants about the various changed provisions in new criminal laws.
He emphasized that these laws aim to provide speedy justice to victims and impose stringent punishments on offenders.
Besides, DDC member Block Trigam Om Prakash, Block Development Officer, Trigam Roopesh Sharma and Principal, HSS Ayar Trigam Ramesh Kumar also briefed the participants about the outcome and implications of new three criminal laws and enjoined the participants to have full awareness about their rights under three new criminal laws.
They also highlighted that the new laws prioritize justice over punishment and are designed to ensure speedy justice and enhance accessibility.
