Jammu: DD,A vibrant Mega Cultural Event was jointly organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Kala Kendra Society Jammu, and the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational & Charitable Trust at the Kala Kendra Lawns today.
The event was graced by Shiv Kumar, DIG Jammu, as the Chief Guest, while Harvinder Kour Secretary JKAACL attended as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary Kala Kendra, also shared the presidium, contributing to the celebration of Jammu’s cultural heritage.
In his address, Shiv Kumar emphasized the significance of Lohri, noting its role in uniting communities and celebrating the region’s rich cultural traditions. “Lohri is a festival close to the hearts of the people, fostering a sense of joyous camaraderie. Celebrations like these remind us of our shared heritage and vibrant culture,” he said.
Harvinder Kour highlighted the Academy’s efforts in promoting the essence of Lohri across Jammu and Kashmir. “This is a time to come together as a community, celebrate our heritage, and express gratitude for the festival ,” she remarked.
Dr. Javaid Rahi underlined the importance of such events in passing on cultural values to younger generations. He stated, “The festivities teach our youth about the significance of Lohri, ensuring that our rich traditions remain alive.
The event featured enthralling performances by prominent artists C.D. Magotra & Party presented the traditional Haran Dance, Ravi Sharma & Party performed mesmerizing Dogri Dances, Solo performances by Radhika Mahahas and Varsha Jammwal captivated the audience, Groups led by T.R. Premi, Arjun Singh, and others showcased cultural vibrancy.
The event was skillfully anchored by Sat Pal Singh, leaving attendees in awe of the cultural richness and warmth that marked the celebration.
With bonfires symbolizing new beginnings and songs echoing Dogra folklore, these celebrations strengthen unity and joy in the community.”
