‘Dulat family member of Abdullah’s, nothing new in his book

Srinagar, (DD): Former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today alleged that National Conference (NC) leaders held secret meetings with BJP leader Amit Shah in 2014 to offer support for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reacting to revelations made in former RAW chief A.S. Dulat’s latest book, Mehbooba said, “There’s nothing new in Dulat’s book. In 2014, NC leaders were holding secret, late-night meetings with Amit Shah, offering support to the BJP for forming the government in J&K.”

She also criticized the current political environment in the region, stating that the situation is far from peaceful.

“We are not even allowed to protest against the Waqf Bill or express solidarity with Palestine,” Mehbooba said, calling out what she described as a continued suppression of democratic rights in the Union Territory.

Further intensifying her attack, she accused the NC of maintaining a covert relationship with the BJP.

“The NC is close to the BJP — covertly,” she remarked, adding that such political double standards have eroded public trust.

Her statements have reignited political tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, just as regional parties begin mobilizing for the upcoming elections.(DD)
