Srinagar, (DD)Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken a swipe at Pakistan amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran.
Reacting to recent American airstrikes on Iranian targets, Mufti highlighted the irony of Pakistan’s reported support for nominating former US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize during his term. In a post on social media platform X, she remarked:
“The country that rushed to recommend Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize now has egg on its face after he attacked Iran.”
Though Mufti did not directly name Pakistan, the context of her statement left little doubt about who was being criticised. Her remarks sparked a flurry of responses online — some in agreement with her assessment, others accusing her of using a global crisis to make a political point.
This is not the first time Mehbooba Mufti has weighed in on international affairs. She often uses global developments to highlight issues of diplomacy, conflict, and the need for peace in South Asia(DD)
