Srinagar, (DD) In a fresh political twist, Sarwar Mufti cousin of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti joined the Apni Party on Saturday, dealing another setback to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Sarwar was formally inducted into the Apni Party at a function held in Srinagar, presided over by party president Altaf Bukhari.
Once a longstanding member of the PDP, Sarwar briefly aligned with the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) in November 2023 before returning to the PDP. His decision to now embrace the Apni Party signals growing unease within PDP ranks.
Political observers view the development as a symbolic yet significant blow to the PDP, which is already grappling with reduced influence after winning just three seats in the 2024 election(DD)
