Mendhar: DD, Mendhar – Fest 2025 is the region’s biggest sports promotion campaign, themed “Building Strength, Building Character.”
It was organised by the Mendhar Bn / Bhimber Gali Brigade under Operation Sadbhavan. The fest aims to showcase talent, foster unity and give the youth of Jammu and Kashmir a chance to shine on their home ground.
The boys’ track at OP Hill Stadium on 1 Dec 2025 featured a packed schedule, a blazing 100 m dash, a tactical 400 m, a high‑octane 4 × 100 m relay, plus the field tests of long jump and javelin throw.
The participants from GHSS Mendhar, GDC Mendhar, GHS Uchhad, GHS Gohlad, GHS Mankot and Eklavya Model Residential School gave their all, turning the stadium into a hive of energy and cheers.
Girls took centre stage with their own set of thrilling contests: 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, shot‑put and long jump. The participants demonstrated raw power and chased their personal bests. The enthusiasm was palpable, and every finish line was met with a roar that echoed the spirit of OP Sadbhavna.
Running, Long Jump, Javelin, Shotput throw and other Athletics event teaches discipline, resilience, teamwork and skills that translate straight into everyday challenges. Athletics builds confidence, improves health and instils a sense of achievement that fuels ambition beyond the stadium.
CO Mendhar Bn, the chief guest, praised the athletes, saying, “Your speed, your teamwork and your never‑give‑up attitude is exactly what our region needs.”
He highlighted how each individual performance and attitude is a step toward a stronger, more united Mendhar and a brighter future for the valley.
By organising this championship, the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana creates an environment where talent decides the winner.
The scholarships, coaching clinics and exposure trips are on the horizon for standout performers, ensuring that both boys and girls receive equal encouragement and support.
The Athletics Championship was a resounding success, embodying the fest’s motto of building strength and character. The momentum continues with cricket (2‑4 Dec), the Mendhar Marathon (9 Dec) and the Grand Finale on 11 Dec, featuring cultural performances, prize distribution and an Ex‑SM meet.DD
