Mendhar,DD, The dusty court at Boys Higher Secondary School in Mendhar came alive on 28 Nov 2025 as five enthusiastic teams BHSS Mendhar I, GDC Mendhar, HSS Uchhad, BHSS Mendhar II and HSS Mankot – stepped onto the field. From the first whistle the players moved with lightning‑quick chases, sharp turns and powerful tags, while the crowd cheered every dash and roar. The energy was electric, and the matches showed how much talent is waiting to be discovered in our region.

The chief guest, CO Mendhar Bn, filled the boys’ Kho‑Kho court with a burst of encouragement, telling the young athletes that their speed, teamwork and spirit were exactly what the region needs to shine on a bigger stage. He praised every dash and tag, reminding the players that each effort was a step toward a stronger, more united Mendhar and that the army’s Operation Sadbhavana was all about giving local youth a chance to discover and nurture their talent through sport.

The championship is more than just a game; it is a key part of the larger Operation Sadbhavana effort. This initiative, run by the Mendhar Bn / Bhimber Gali Brigade, uses sports to bring people together, build confidence and give young people a chance to shine. By organising events like this, Operation Sadbhavana helps students learn teamwork, stay healthy and see that they can achieve big things right at home.

Local officials and coaches were on hand to watch the action and talk to the players. They praised the athletes for their hard work and asked to continue with the spirit in coming future. The boys matches set a strong example , showing that with the right support, the region’s youth can excel on the national stage and become a hub of sporting excellence.

Sports give young people a visible stage to test their skills, see immediate results and feel proud of their effort. When a player runs, tags or works as a team in a game like Kho‑Kho, the cheers from friends, family and the community turn those moments into encouragement. This recognition builds confidence, teaches teamwork and discipline, and shows that success on the field can open doors to scholarships, training and future opportunities. In short, sports turn a simple match into a powerful boost that motivates youngsters to aim higher and believe in themselves.

Looking ahead, the Girls Kho‑Kho will take place on 29 Nov, followed by Athletics on 1 Dec, a Cricket tournament from 2‑5 Dec, the Mendhar Marathon on 9 Dec and the Grand Finale on 11 Dec with cultural performances, prize giving and an Ex‑SM meet.DD
