Mendhar , TDD,: The first ever Mini Marathon was organised by Bhimber Gali Brigade as part of Mendhar Sports Festival 2024, under Op Sadbhavana.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation of local populace and drew 400 participants from school & colleges of the Mendhar region, demonstrating their zeal & enthusiasm. The Marathon featured two competitive age categories ie, 15 to 30 years and 31 to 45 years. All the participants showcased tremendous spirit, resilience and indomitable will to compete throughout the event.
Winners & Runners-up of each category were conferred with “Awards of Excellence” & all the participants were awarded “Certificates & Medals of Participation” in recognition of their efforts. The event was aimed at promoting culture, encouraging community engagement and generating a sense of healthy competiton to the locals, motivating them to pickup new skills and nurture them towards their brighter future. It also sought to foster unity and social cohesion in the region and strengthen Civil- Military relation.
Op Sadbhavana is a initiative of Indian Army, which addressed the socio-economic and physiological need of people. These initiatives focus on education, healthcare, infrastructure, empowerment and provide multiple opportunities to the young talents of the Mendar region enabling them to grow in various walks of their life. Mini Marathon marked a significant mile- stone in empowering the youth to adopt a competitive mindset & healthy lifestyle, thereby promoting the Op Sadhabhava’s objective of Peace, Stability & Development.
The Grand Finale of mega event is scheduled on 25th Nov 2024, where the Cultural Events, Dog Show, Ex-servicemen meet & felicitation ceremony will be organised. Stalls from various part of organisation will be placed to encourage, inform & empower the local populace, especially youth, towards growth, synergy & development in order to enable them contribute towards nation TDD
