Srinagar, (DD): Rouble Nagi, Member of the Minority Commission, reaffirmed the commission’s ongoing commitment to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all minority communities in Kashmir, a region known for its rich diversity and harmony.

In a press conference held today in Srinagar, Nagi discussed the commission’s dedicated efforts to protect the cultural, social, and economic rights of minorities, while fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates Kashmir’s unique pluralism.

Nagi emphasised that the commission is focused on addressing the challenges faced by marginalised groups, ensuring that they have equal access to government benefits, resources and opportunities. “Kashmir, with its diverse cultural landscape, must remain a land where all communities, irrespective of their background, have equal representation and opportunities for growth,” she stated.

The commission is working to address critical issues such as property rights, access to education and healthcare, and encouraging greater participation of minorities in political and community activities. Nagi also highlighted the importance of safeguarding religious and cultural identities while ensuring integration into the broader society. “In Kashmir, we must preserve our diversity, while also fostering a sense of belonging and unity among all our communities,” she added.

Furthermore, Nagi pointed out the commission’s efforts to strengthen relationships between minority communities and law enforcement agencies to enhance safety and security. She urged the public to respect and protect the rights of all citizens and dispel any misconceptions about minority groups.

“The Minority Commission is dedicated to promoting tolerance, understanding, and respect for all cultures,” Nagi concluded. “By fostering inter-community dialogue and collaboration, we strive to create an atmosphere where Kashmir continues to be a land of peace, harmony, and equal opportunity for everyone.”

Her address comes at a time when there is increased attention on safeguarding the rights of minorities in Jammu and Kashmir. (DD)
