Mobile Internet Temporarily Suspended in Upper Reaches of Kishtwar Amid Ongoing Anti-Terror Operation


Kishtwar: The Home Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government has suspended mobile internet services in the hilly areas of Kishtwar district amid an ongoing anti-terror operation against a terrorist group.
The internet services have been suspended temporarily for the next 48 hours in Singhpora, Chingam, and Chatroo to prevent the misuse of mobile internet by anti-national elements, in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of the country, reads an order issued by the Principal Secretary, Home Department, J&K Government, Chandraker Bharti.
“…high-speed mobile data services are likely to be misused by anti-national elements/miscreants, which may cause deterioration of public order and unrest among the general masses,” the order states.
The suspension has come into effect from 12:01 am on January 29 till 11:59 pm on January 30, 2026.
The internet was suspended temporarily in view of the anti-terror operation in the above-mentioned areas of Kishtwar.
Security forces, including special commandos of the Indian Army, have been deployed in the dense forest areas and high-altitude snow-capped mountains. They have launched a major Cordon and Search Operation.
On January 18, security forces and terrorists exchanged fire in the Singhpora forests. Later, the Army recovered a fully operational hideout stocked with essential supplies to survive for a long period.DD
