Model Panchayat Badhat:DC Kishtwar Steers Awareness Initiative and Evaluates Developmental Milestones

Kishtwar, TDD,District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Shri Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), visited Model Panchayat Badhaat of Saroor area in Block Drabshalla to preside over an awareness initiative and assess advancements in key developmental projects within the panchayat.

Pertinent to mention that visit to the Model Panchayats of the district Kishtwar have become a routine mandate as per the directive issued by DC Kishtwar wherein the district and sectoral officers and field functionaries of departments have to ensure the saturation the of 78 essential indicators in these designated 13 model panchayats, part of DC Shavan’s mission to elevate developmental benchmarks across the district.

During the awareness camp at Badhaat Saroor, DC Kishtwar emphasized the execution of several government schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), health initiatives, and social programs targeted at community welfare and advancement.

Mr R K Shavan emphasised all the concerned sectoral officers and field functionaries to work tirelessly to achieve the set targets through community participation so that tangible results are achieved on ground.

Later, Mr. Shavan inspected ongoing development efforts, directing timely completion with assured quality. He engaged with the Village Monitoring Committee (VMCs), local residents, and former PRI members, concentrating on achieving comprehensive indicator coverage, addressing community concerns, and providing prompt resolutions. He further encouraged the Village Monitoring Committee to proactively coordinate with departments to bridge gaps in Panchayat development.

Particular emphasis was also placed on green and cleanliness initiatives, polythene-free campaigns, door-to-door waste collection, and the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan.

DC Shavan highlighted the importance of community participation in fostering a healthy environment and combating substance abuse.

In response to local health requirements, relevant departments were instructed to organize a medical camp offering free checkups and medicines for Panchayat residents.

During the visit, the District Development Commissioner Kishtwar warned the officers who had not yet visited their designated Model panchayats, underscoring that negligence in duty would lead to stringent action. He emphasized the importance of committed on-ground engagement by all officials to guarantee the effective execution of developmental programs and to comprehensively address the community’s needs.TDD
