MVD Kishtwar & Health Dept Organize free Eye Checkup & Medical Camp for Transporters at Bunjwah

Kishtwar, (DD)In a significant step towards promoting road safety and the well-being of transport workers, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Health Department Kishtwar, organized a Free Eye Checkup cum Medical Camp for drivers, transporters, and cleaners at Government Higher Secondary School Binoon, Bunjwah. The initiative was conducted as part of the Block Diwas program, under the leadership of the District Administration Kishtwar.

The camp was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), in the presence of Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar, Tasleem Javaid Wani (JKAS), and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kishtwar, Sat Lal Manhas. Medical and paramedical staff from PHC Nali provided their support, ensuring comprehensive medical assessments for all attendees.

More than 100 transport workers received free medical checkups, including eye examinations, along with free medicines. The initiative was aimed not only at addressing immediate health concerns but also at educating drivers on road safety, vehicle maintenance, and adherence to traffic regulations.

Speaking at the event, ARTO Kishtwar emphasized the importance of such health camps in ensuring that drivers remain medically fit, which in turn enhances road safety. He highlighted the need for regular medical screenings for transporters, given their demanding profession, and reiterated the commitment of the MVD and Health Department towards public welfare.

DC Kishtwar praised the collaborative effort, emphasizing that ensuring the health and safety of transporters contributes to safer roads for all. He encouraged similar initiatives in the future to further support the transport community and raise awareness about road safety measures.

The camp successfully combined healthcare and awareness-building, reinforcing the need for safe driving habits and regular medical checkups for those involved in the transport sector.(DD)
