Mysterious murder of 18-month-old boy sends shock waves across Kashmir’s Budgam

Srinagar, NVI: Sending shock waves across Budgam district, an 18-month-old boy was found dead mysteriously at his house in Kachwari area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday.

An official told The Diplomat that on the intervening night of Sep 9 and 10, an 18-month old baby was found dead mysteriously with some bruises on his throat. The slain boy has been identified as Zeeshan Ahmed Kalas, son of Bilal Ahmed Kalas of Kachwari area of Khansahib, Budgam district.

However, a police official said that nothing is official at this stage as investigations are underway. “All angles including the family claims are being investigated,” the official said.

He said all the family members including the parents of the child are being quizzed.

Police have taken possession of the body of the minor boy for post-mortem and legal-medico formalities. The police official said that let investigations reach some conclusion only then they will issue a statement to the press. Meanwhile, the incident has sent shock waves across Budgam district.

Eyewitnesses said that hundreds of people were seen heading towards the house of Bilal Ahmed to express solidarity and to inquire how the incident happened. Police had not handed over the body of the boy to his family for last rites till this report was being filed. (NVI)
