Mystery Projectile Crashes into Dal Lake, Sparks Panic in Srinagar

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD) A missile-like object plunged into the iconic Dal Lake on Saturday morning, sending shockwaves across Srinagar as loud explosions were heard in various parts of the city, according to official sources.

Eyewitnesses reported thick plumes of smoke rising from the lake moments after the object made impact. Security forces swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a recovery operation. The debris of the unidentified object has been retrieved and is currently undergoing forensic analysis.

In a separate but possibly related incident, authorities discovered another suspicious object in the Lasjan area on the city’s outskirts. That object too is being examined for its origin and nature, officials confirmed.

Authorities have not issued any public safety alert so far, but an investigation is underway to determine whether the objects were part of a test, accident, or deliberate act.

Further updates are awaited as security agencies continue their assessment.(DD)
