SRINAGAR:DD, Atleast nine people, including a naib-tehsildar, were killed and 29 others sustained multiple injuries in a high intensity explosion that took place here at Nowgam police station in Srinagar, last night.
The explosion, as per the media reports, occurred during an inspection of the explosives that were confiscated and stored inside the police station Nowgam.
The reports claim that a Naib Tehsildar, FSL team officials, and policemen were among the nine people, who lost their lives, and 29 others, mostly policemen, sustained injuries in the massive explosion.
The explosion has also damaged several vehicles parked outside the police station.
“It is believed that the explosive, ammonium nitrate, was seized in Faridabad in Haryana recently and stored in Nowgam police station that went off during the inspection of the confiscated explosive,” the media reports quoted initial reports.
Importantly, the explosive was seized from Haryana after the busting of the alleged doctor module. (Agencies)
