Udhampur, TDD, 2024: Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur Police arrested a suspected narco smuggler and seized a substantial quantity of poppy straw.
The arrest was made during a routine vehicle check at the Jakhani naka point on the National Highway. A Maruti Ecco bearing registration number JK03N7425 was stopped for inspection, and upon searching the vehicle, police found approximately 9.1 kilograms of poppy straw concealed within a bag.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Irfan Ahmed Bhat from Kokernag, Anantnag, was taken into custody. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police are conducting further investigations to determine the source of the poppy straw and identify any potential accomplices.TDD
