National Lok Adalat held at Ramban

Ramban, DD: In accordance with the National Legal Services Authority’s (NALSA) annual Calendar of Activities and under the directions of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority, the first National Lok Adalat of the year 2025 was held at the District Court Complex in Ramban, as well as at other subordinate courts in the district.

The event was organized under the patronage of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ramban,Deepak Sethi and with the assistance of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ramban, Priyanka Mahajan.

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ramban, Deepak Sethi, highlighted the significance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in delivering timely and affordable justice to the public.

A total of eight benches were constituted across the various courts in District Ramban to facilitate the swift and amicable settlement of pending cases. In total, 980 cases were taken up, consisting of 853 post-litigation and 127 pre-litigation cases.

Out of these, 440 post-litigation cases and 45 pre-litigation cases were successfully disposed of, resulting in a total settlement amount of Rs. 3,04,80,025 in post-litigation cases. The total amount settled across all cases amounted to Rs. 3,16,23,941.

This initiative has significantly contributed to providing an accessible platform for people to resolve disputes in an efficient manner, thus promoting a culture of legal awareness and peace within the community.DD
