National Sports Day & Bagless Day Celebrated at Higher Secondary School Pashkum

Kargil,DD, PM Shri Govt Higher Secondary School Pashkum celebrated National Sports Day and Bag less Day today with great energy and participation from students and staff. The day was marked with a variety of sports activities,and fun-filled learning experiences beyond the classroom.

At the onset of the programme, a pledge was taken by students and staff to uphold the values of discipline, fitness, fair play, and holistic learning. This set the tone for the day’s celebrations.

The event began with a tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey player, whose birth anniversary is observed as National Sports Day across India, in the form of a speech competition. In this event, Miss Farida Batool (Class 11th), Miss Nareen Fatima (Class 9th), Miss Mehmuda (Class 12th), and Miss Mehmuda Jammela (Class 11th) actively participated, delivering inspiring speeches on the importance of sports and discipline.

Students then enthusiastically took part in volleyball games, with inter-house competitions held among both boys and girls. The matches were played with Great Spirit and teamwork, drawing cheers and encouragement from the audience.

In line with the Bagless Day initiative of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students engaged in creative, skill-based, and recreational activities without the burden of books. A musical chair game and many fun programmes were also organised, creating a joyful atmosphere and encouraging experiential learning.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Ishey Namgail stated that, “The dual celebration of National Sports Day and Bagless Day not only highlights the importance of fitness, teamwork, and discipline but also fosters creativity, innovation, and joyful learning among students.”

The event concluded with prize distribution, where the best players among students, winners of the speech competition, and winners of the inter-house volleyball games were felicitated with traditional khataks and trophies.

Finally, lecturer Kaneez Fatima, the in-charge of the organizing committee delivered the vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to all staff members for their support and thanked the students for their enthusiastic participation in the games and fun activities, including the lively musical chair competition, which added cheer to the celebrations.DD
