Udhampur: DD, In a significant step towards fostering leadership, patriotism, and awareness about the armed forces among youth, a contingent of National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from 1 J&K Air Sqn NCC, Udhampur visited the prestigious Air Force Station Udhampur on 08 Aug 25.

The visit was organized to provide cadets with firsthand exposure to the working environment, values, and ethos of the Indian Armed Forces, with special emphasis on the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Upon arrival, the cadets were accorded a warm welcome by officers and aircrew of the station. The day commenced with an introductory briefing session conducted by senior IAF officials, who provided an overview of the Indian Air Force’s organisational structure, operational roles, achievements, and technological advancements.

Cadets were also shown an informative documentary that highlighted the Air Force’s role in safeguarding national sovereignty, undertaking humanitarian missions, and executing disaster relief operations both in India and abroad.
During the visit the cadets had the rare opportunity to witness the frontline Fighter aircraft and Helicopters, aircraft maintenance bays, radar and surveillance units, and communication systems. Static displays of various aircraft and equipment used in frontline operations were the highlight of the tour, evoking great enthusiasm and curiosity among the cadets.

A major attraction was the interaction session with serving officers and pilots, during which the cadets asked a range of questions related to career prospects in the IAF, life in uniform, challenges during missions, and training procedures at premier institutions like the National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Force Academy, and others. The officers shared motivational stories from real-life operations and encouraged cadets to cultivate discipline, resilience, and a spirit of service.

The Commanding Officer of the unit Wing Commander Nitin Yadav emphasized on the importance of such visits in shaping the minds of young future leaders. He said, “The Indian Air Force represents the pinnacle of discipline, technology, and courage. The visit of NCC cadets to the Air Force Station was very motivating and hope that this experience sparks a genuine interest among them in joining the Armed Forces to serve the nation with honour and pride.”

The cadets too expressed immense excitement for the opportunity. It was a truly inspiring and eye-opening experience for them. This initiative aligns with the NCC’s broader objective of “Unity and Discipline” and reflects the strong collaboration between the Indian Armed Forces and the NCC to inspire the next generation of responsible and patriotic citizens.DD
