Kishtwar, DD,The New Modern Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences, Kishtwar, celebrated International Nurses Day with immense fervor, paying tribute to the selfless dedication and service of nurses worldwide.
International Nurses Day, observed globally on May 12th, honors the invaluable contributions of nurses who form the backbone of healthcare systems. Their unwavering commitment, compassion, and resilience, especially during health crises, make them vital pillars in patient care, education, research, and advocacy.
This year’s celebration was held under the global theme “Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic Power of Care,” which highlights the significant economic impact nurses have through their clinical expertise, innovation, and leadership. The event also paid homage to the legacy of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing, and her exceptional service during World War I.
To mark the occasion, the institute organized a vibrant program filled with educational and cultural activities. The Chief Guest, Dr. Yudhveer Singh Kotwal, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kishtwar, and Dr. Sham Lal, Deputy Superintendent, graced the event and shared their insights and appreciation for the nursing profession. Other hospital staff and distinguished guests were also in attendance.
Highlights of the event included:
Thought-provoking speeches by GNM and Lab Assistant students on the life and legacy of Florence Nightingale.
A skit on “Nasha Mukti” (drug de-addiction) and a moving presentation titled “Baaghbaan”.
A vibrant Himachali folk dance that showcased the cultural diversity of the region.
A quiz competition, a push-up competition, and various other student-led activities celebrating health, fitness, and awareness.
The program was led by Principal Mrs. Suman Rana and Vice Principal Miss Sonika Rani, with active participation from faculty and students. Miss Rabia Akhter, a tutor at the institute, also shared insightful thoughts on the dedication and significance of the nursing profession.
Vice Principal Miss Sonika Rani extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, staff, and students for making the event a grand success.
