Srinagar,(DD): A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to visit the site of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam today, as part of its preliminary investigation into the incident.
Official sources indicated that the agency is preparing to assess the scene of the deadly assault, which claimed 26 lives and left several others injured. The visit follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s arrival in Srinagar on Tuesday, where he chaired a high-level security review meeting with top officials in response to the attack.
The NIA team is expected to gather forensic evidence, examine the nature of the assault, and coordinate with local police and intelligence agencies to piece together early findings. The assessment will form the foundation for a deeper probe into the perpetrators, their network, and possible cross-border links.
The Pahalgam attack has raised fresh concerns about security in South Kashmir, particularly in areas that had seen a decline in militant activity in recent months. Investigators suspect a high degree of planning and coordination behind the attack, pointing to the possible involvement of a well-organized militant group.
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses(DD)
