NIT Srinagar mourns the demise of former HOD Electrical Engineering Deptt, Prof. (Dr.) B. L. Kaul

Srinagar, DD: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar expresses profound grief on the passing away of Prof. (Dr.) B. L. Kaul, former Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Prof. Kaul attained eternal peace on Sunday morning, September 14, 2025, in Greater Noida, following a prolonged illness.

A distinguished academician and administrator, he served the Department of Electrical Engineering at NIT Srinagar with exemplary dedication and sincerity. His long tenure was marked by significant academic contributions, mentorship to generations of students, and tireless efforts for the growth of the Institute.

In-charge Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. Roohi Naaz and a proud student of Prof. (Dr.) B. L. Kaul, paid a heartfelt tribute to her mentor.

“Prof. Kaul was more than a teacher; he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration for his students and colleagues. His teachings went beyond the classroom, shaping our outlook on life and profession,” she said.

Recalling his immense contributions, Prof. Naaz added, “Prof. Kaul Sir’s work in teaching, research, and administration has left a lasting mark on this institution. He will always be remembered for his humility, wisdom, and deep commitment to academic excellence.

“I feel personally indebted to him for the values and knowledge he instilled in me. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of students at NIT Srinagar,” Prof. Naaz added.

In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, expressed profound grief over the demise of Prof. Kaul.

“On behalf of the entire NIT Srinagar fraternity, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray for eternal peace to the departed soul. The passing of Prof. Kaul is a moment of great loss for all of us at NIT Srinagar.

“Prof. Kaul played a vital role in strengthening the Electrical Engineering Department and in nurturing students who today are serving across the globe. His legacy will continue to guide us as we strive for academic growth and innovation. We stand united in grief with his family and loved ones,” he said.

Institute Registrar, Prof. Atikur Rehman, also paid heartfelt tribute and stated that Prof. Kaul was a pillar of strength for this institution.

“His work ethic, dedication to teaching, and vision for academic excellence are qualities that will continue to inspire future generations at NIT Srinagar. We mourn his passing and extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family during this difficult time,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Srinagar, mourns the irreparable loss of our esteemed former Head of Department, Prof. (Dr.) B. L. Kaul.

Prof. Kaul was not only a remarkable academician but also a mentor, guide, and source of inspiration to both his colleagues and countless students who passed through the portals of this Department.

His vision, dedication, and selfless service laid a strong foundation for academic excellence and innovation in Electrical Engineering at NIT Srinagar.

We fondly remember him as a teacher who nurtured generations with patience and wisdom, and as a leader who strengthened this Department with his foresight and commitment.

His contributions in teaching, research, and administration will continue to resonate in the corridors of this Institute for years to come.
