No Removal of Urdu Signboards in Civil Secretariat: Clarifies J&K Govt

Srinagar:DD, The government on Wednesday clarified that Urdu signboards have not been removed from the entrance gates of chambers in the Civil Secretariat, Jammu and Srinagar.

Responding to a question raised by MLA Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad in the Legislative Assembly, the Minister Incharge Estates Department in a written reply as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC stated that It is not a fact that signboards in Urdu have been removed from the entrance gates of the chambers in the Civil Secretariat, Jammu/Srinagar.

As per the prescribed norms, trilingual signboards displaying names in Urdu, English, and Hindi have been installed to ensure representation of all official languages and maintain uniformity across all chambers, it stated.

He added that since Urdu continues to feature on these boards, the question of reinstallation does not arise. (KNC)
