‘All three locals from Srinagar, they performed act at the behest of Pak-based handlers, Case under UAPA lodged in police station Kothibag’

Srinagar, (TDD): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdhi today said that three terror associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit who were behind the November 3 grenade attack at TRC Srinagar near Sunday Market that left 12 persons injured, have been arrested.
Addressing a press conference here, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir said that on November 3, a grenade was lobbed at TRC crossing at a time when Sunday Market was abuzz. “Twelve 12 civilians including a woman and man seriously wounded. In the attack a woman named Abida was seriously injured. She has little kids. Similarly, the lone bread earner for his family Habibullah was also seriously injured. Habibullah has a bedridden son at his home,” the IGP said. “Both Abida and Habbiullah hail from Bandipora district.”
He said Srinagar police constituted teams and tasked them to investigate the case. “After thorough investigations, three persons who are affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit and were behind the TRC grenade attack have been arrested,” the IGP said. “They have been booked under UAPA and a case against them is lodged in police station Kothibagh.”
He said that the arrested persons have been identified as Usama Yasin Sheikh, Umar Fayaz Shiekh and Afnan Ahmed, all residents of Ikhrajpora, Srinagar. “All three have been booked under UAPA and a case against them has been lodged in police station Kothibagh. They carried out this act at the behest of Pakistan based handlers,” the IGP said. The IGP also said two terrorists have been killed in an encounter at Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district—(TDD)
