Nursing Students Protest for Better Facilities in Udhampur including Transport facilities

Arun Jasrotia

Udhampur ,TDD, Udhampur witnessed a heated protest today as nursing students from the Government Nursing College, Balley of Government Medical College Udhampur, took to the streets to demand improved facilities. The protest was ignited by a recent bus accident in the Salmari area that left over 25-28 students injured.

The students gathered outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, blocking Dhar Road and disrupting traffic. Their key demands include dedicated transportation, qualified faculty, adequate accommodation, clean drinking water, functional washrooms, and access to laboratories and libraries. The students claim that despite earlier attempts to address these issues, their pleas have been ignored. They have threatened to escalate their protest to a hunger strike if their demands are not met promptly. Local authorities, including the Tehsildar and police, intervened to pacify the protesters and restore normalcy to the traffic situation.TDD
