Jammu, Mar 10(DD): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday clarified that the Jammu and Kashmir government had no involvement in organizing the controversial fashion show in Gulmarg.
Addressing the Legislative Assembly, Abdullah stated that the event was a private function held at a private hotel, with no government infrastructure or support involved. He added that authorities have been instructed to investigate whether any laws were violated, and if so, the matter would be handed over to the police for necessary action.
The Chief Minister also questioned the decision to deny permission to the Deputy Chief Minister to visit Kathua while allowing the Leader of the Opposition, Sunil Sharma, to do so.
“If the situation in Kathua was serious enough to restrict movement, why was the Leader of the Opposition permitted while the Deputy CM was stopped?” Abdullah asked, raising concerns over selective security protocols.
With both the Billawar civilian killings and the Gulmarg event stirring political debate, tensions between the government and opposition are likely to escalate further.(DD)
