On leave Soldier critically injured in terrorist attack at Pulwama’s Tral area

TDD Correspondent

Srinagar, (TDD) – An army soldier, Delhair Mushtaq, was critically injured in a terrorist attack in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening.

The soldier, who was on leave at the time of the incident, is the son of Mushtaq Ahmad and hails from Sofigund Khanagund in Tral.

Sources confirmed that the attack occurred when Mushtaq was outside his home. The assailants, whose identities remain unknown, opened fire before fleeing the scene. The injured soldier was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable. Authorities have yet to provide further updates on his health.

Security forces have launched a manhunt in the area to apprehend those responsible for the attack. The incident has raised alarms about the deteriorating security situation in the region, which has witnessed several attacks targeting both civilians and military personnel in recent months.

This attack is believed to be part of the ongoing insurgency in Kashmir, with both the army and local police investigating all possible leads. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Kashmir, particularly in volatile areas like Tral, which have been a hotspot for militant activity in recent years. (TDD)
