Udhampur ,TDD:- Jammu and Kashmir Police in Udhampur foiled a narcotics smuggling bid by recovering a psychotropic substance ‘poppy straw’ (Bhukki) and held one person with 08 kg 700 grams of poppy straw at Roundomail naka point.
As Per reports during ongoing drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, a police team of PP Roundomail led by its Incharge while on naka checking at Roundomail checking/naka point stopped one vehicle (truck) bearing Registration number PB13AW-9566 for checkingpurpose. In the process of search, 08 kg 700 grams of poppy straw like substance got recovered from the above said vehicle.
On preliminary inquiry, the driver disclosed his identity as Baljit Rai S/O Raj Kumar R/O H.No 459 Indira Colony, Amritsar. The said accused person (driver) has been arrested on the spot, vehicle and contraband seized.
In this connection, a Case FIR NO. 500/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in P/S Udhampur and investigation of the case has been taken up.TDD
