‘One Nation One Subscription’ awareness cum orientation programme organised at GDC Kishtwar

Kishtwar,DD, The Department of Library, in collaboration with the Department of Economics, Government Degree College Kishtwar, organized an Awareness-cum-Orientation Programme titled “Exploring the Digital Knowledge Hub: One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)” in the college auditorium. The programme aimed to familiarize students and faculty members with the vast range of e-resources made accessible under the ONOS initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Esar-ul-Ayub, highlighting the significance of digital access to scholarly materials and the government’s vision of democratizing knowledge through a single national subscription platform.
Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Principal of GDC Kishtwar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized the transformative role of digital learning resources in modern education. He appreciated the ONOS initiative for bridging the gap between learners and knowledge providers, enabling equitable access to high-quality academic content across the nation. Prof. Basharat Iqbal lauded the efforts of the organizing departments for taking the initiative to enlighten students and faculty about such valuable platforms.


The Resource Person, Rafiq Ahmad Rather, Librarian, delivered an insightful and interactive session through a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation. He explained in detail the objectives, structure, and benefits of the ONOS programme. The presentation covered step-by-step user registration, modes of access, search tools, and the navigation of subscribed e-resources. Mr. Rather also conducted a hands-on training session, enabling participants to explore databases and journals practically. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members, who expressed great interest in learning about the wide variety of e-resources available through ONOS.
The event served as an eye-opener for many participants who were previously unaware of the wealth of academic content made available through this national initiative. It also encouraged the faculty members to integrate digital resources into their teaching and research practices.
The Organizing Committee comprised Rafiq Ahmad Rather, Prof. Esar-ul-Ayoub,Dr.Tabasum saleem Dr. Yasir Ahmad, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, Prof. Murtaza Ali Want, and Dr. Mehraj Ahmad Bhat, and non teaching staff Ms.sonali Sharma, Mr. Noor Hussain and Ms. Sunita Devi who worked collaboratively to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
In his concluding remarks, the Principal commended the organizers for their dedication and initiative in arranging such an informative event. He encouraged them to continue conducting similar programmes in the future to strengthen the academic and digital literacy of students and staff alike.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation, making the programme a fruitful and enriching learning experience.
