One-Way Traffic for LMVs from Srinagar to Jammu Allowed on NH-44 on Sept 17: Traffic Police

Diplomat Correspondent

Jammu:DD, The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has not been fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur, where single-lane movement of vehicles continues due to uneven road conditions, intermittent rains, and congestion.

An official statement from Traffic Police Headquarters that traffic on the highway was being managed in a regulated manner at Tharad where only 250–300 meters of road is motorable in single lane.
Commuters have been advised to follow lane discipline as overtaking and wrong-lane driving may worsen the congestion.

The official said that subject to fair weather and road clearance, only one-way movement of light motor vehicles (LMVs) from Srinagar towards Jammu will be allowed tomorrow, September 17.
These vehicles will be permitted from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) between 6 am and 11 am, while no LMV or HMV shall be allowed from Jammu or Udhampur towards Srinagar.

Traffic on Mughal Road will remain open for LMVs from both sides, while HMVs with essential commodities will only be permitted from Poonch towards Shopian before 9 am. Movement on Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road and Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari road will be allowed in regulated timings as per advisories issued by the concerned authorities. (KNC)
