Operation Rudder: Dumper Driver rescued from flooded Niki Tawi area in Phallian Mandal, Satwari; dumper submerges into the flash flood

Water level in Tawi and Chenab Rivers increases amid heavy rainfall in upper reaches

Jammu: DD, Police today rescued dumper driver, who was struck in the middle of flooded Niki Tawi area near Shiva stone crusher here at Phallian Mandal area of Satwari Police Station jurisdiction.
“Around 5:40 am, an information was received at Police Station Satwari that one dumper driver namely Mohan Lal, son of Salik Ram, resident of Om Nagar, Gole Gujral has struck in Niki Tawi area near Shiva stone crusher,” the police said.


Police said that the dumper had submerged in the flash flood and the water continued to increase whereas the driver was struggling for his life by standing on top of the submerged dumper’s cabin.”
Immediately, rescue teams were prepared by the Jammu South Police, consisting of a Police Party led by Incharge Police Post Phallian Mandal, PSI Balbir Singh, and another team led by ASI Om Parkash of SDRF arrived at the scene.
In swift and coordinated manner, the Jammu Kashmir police parties of Satwari Police Station and SDRF successfully rescued the person from the middle of the river.
He was given first aid and taken to Phallian Mandal police post. The Operation Rudder was supervised by SSP Jammu, SP South, SDPO South and executed by SHO Satwari and IC PL Phallian Mandal.
Meanwhile, reports claim that the water level in Tawi and Chenab rivers has increased due to the continuous rainfall in the upper reaches, and the people have been advised not to go close to the water bodies.DD
