Srinagar, (DD): In a resounding display of devotion, more than two lakh pilgrims have undertaken the annual Amarnath Yatra since it began on July 3, registering an impressive spiritual turnout in just 12 days.
Officials report that the pilgrimage to the revered Amarnath Cave shrine is proceeding smoothly, with no major disruptions so far. The Jammu and Kashmir administration, in coordination with security forces, has ensured tight security arrangements and efficient logistical support to facilitate a safe and comfortable journey for yatris.
Security has been reinforced along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, with joint deployment of Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other paramilitary forces. The routes are lined with medical units, langars (community kitchens), resting tents, and emergency response teams, all aimed at supporting the pilgrims through the challenging Himalayan terrain.
Officials attribute the high turnout to both the spiritual fervour of devotees and enhanced infrastructure and management by the authorities.
This year’s yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 7, corresponding with Shravan Purnima, the day traditionally observed for the culmination of the pilgrimage.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has urged all pilgrims to strictly adhere to safety guidelines, including weather advisories and health protocols, to ensure a smooth and secure yatra experience(DD)
