Udhampur, J&K (India): A paramilitary trooper was among four people who lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The accident occurred near the Kheri Sharda Mata Temple when a speeding passenger bus, en route from Doda to Udhampur, collided with a motorcycle coming from the wrong direction, leading to the fatal mishap.
“The impact was so severe that the motorcycle was crushed under the bus, which then veered off the road and crashed into a load carrier where a mechanic was carrying out repairs,” preliminary reports revealed.
Rescue teams immediately rushed to the spot and evacuated the victims to the hospital. However, all four injured persons, including one CRPF personnel, were pronounced dead at the Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC), Udhampur.
Speaking to Diplomat Digital, Kartar Singh, Second-in-Command of the CRPF, confirmed that their teams promptly reached the site to assist in recovery operations and shifted the deceased to GMC for further legal formalities.
A case has been registered in this regard, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact sequence of events.DD
