Srinagar, (DD): Perched atop the Zabarwan hills with a commanding view of Dal Lake, the historic Pari Mahal, or “Palace of Fairies,” remains one of Srinagar’s most sought-after tourist destinations. As the spring season sets in, visitors from across India and abroad are flocking to this architectural marvel to witness its mesmerizing beauty.

Built in the 17th century by Mughal prince Dara Shikoh, Pari Mahal was originally an observatory and a center for Sufi learning. Today, its seven-tiered terraced gardens, arched halls, and breathtaking views continue to enchant travelers.

Tourists visiting Pari Mahal describe it as nothing short of magical.

“Standing here, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The ruins, the gardens, and the view all make it a must-visit,” said Ravi Mehta, a tourist from Delhi.

“The architecture is stunning, and the peaceful vibe is just perfect. It’s the kind of place where you can sit for hours and simply absorb the beauty,” shared Emma Collins, a visitor from Australia.

“I’ve traveled to many historic sites in India, but the view from Pari Mahal is unlike anything I’ve seen before. The sunset here is magical,” remarked Faizan Ahmed, a photographer from Mumbai.

“You don’t just visit Pari Mahal; you experience it. The air is filled with history, and the sight of Dal Lake from here is breathtaking,” said Anita Sharma, a tourist from Bangalore.

“This place is an artist’s paradise. I could sketch here all day,” said Luca Romano, an Italian traveler fascinated by the gardens and architecture.

The J&K Tourism Department has been actively promoting Pari Mahal as part of its heritage tourism circuit, ensuring proper maintenance and security at the site. Local guides emphasize its historical importance, narrating tales of Dara Shikoh’s vision and the palace’s transformation over the centuries.

With its serene ambience, panoramic views, and rich Mughal heritage, Pari Mahal continues to be a jewel in Srinagar’s tourism landscape. Officials expect a significant rise in footfall this summer, especially as Kashmir emerges as a top travel destination in India (DD)
