Jammu, (DD): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari from Halqa Pogal Paristan in Ramban district for accepting a bribe of ₹2,500 to process a revenue correction request.
The action followed a complaint alleging that Muzamil Salam, posted as Patwari at Halqa Pogal Paristan, demanded ₹20,000 to correct the name of the complainant’s father in official land records. After negotiation, the amount was settled at ₹2,500.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. A discreet verification confirmed the demand, leading to registration of FIR No. 03/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (as amended in 2018) at ACB Police Station Doda.
A trap was laid by a team led by a Gazetted Officer. The accused Patwari was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. He was immediately taken into custody, and the bribe amount was recovered on the spot.
Further investigation is underway.(DD)
