PC chief Sajad Lone appeals for postponement of March assembly session citing Ramadan

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone has urged the Jammu & Kashmir government to reconsider its decision to hold the Assembly session in March, citing the challenges it would pose for legislators observing Ramadan.

Lone, a prominent opposition leader, took to social media to express his concerns, stating, “A humble reminder to the elected government: It is Ramadan in the month of March. Holding the Assembly session in March would be inconvenient for a majority of the MLAs.”

The reported plan to convene the session in early March has sparked a debate about accommodating religious observances while scheduling legislative activities. Lone’s appeal underscores the importance of aligning governance with cultural sensitivities in a region where Ramadan holds deep spiritual significance.

The suggestion has drawn attention to the broader need for inclusivity and thoughtful planning in public administration during religiously significant periods(DD)
