Kerala Yatra Began from Kasergode

Kasaragod: Social well-being and a peaceful living environment are the most crucial factors that determine the development of a society, said Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad.
He was inaugurating the Kerala Yatra launched under the leadership of the Kerala Muslim Jamaath.
Grand Mufti said that people of all religions across the world have the right to live with dignity and to propagate their beliefs without hurting others. Islam teaches its followers to engage with everyone in goodness, he noted, adding that humanity must never be forgotten in our interactions. A peaceful life, he emphasized, is the right of all people.
Prophets, Grand Mufti said, reminded humanity to exchange messages of peace and to stand with the poor by eradicating hunger.
The Grand Mufti also spoke about the wide-ranging initiatives being undertaken to make the centenary of Samastha unforgettable. Projects implemented under Samastha include Jamia-tul-Hind, an Islamic university that integrates Islamic knowledge with modern education. Grand Mufti added that Samastha has also been carrying out notable activities in the field of charity and social service.
The public meeting began with prayers led by Syed Ali Bafakhi Thangal. Syed K.S. Attakoya Thangal, Kumbol, presided over the function, while Samastha President E. Sulaiman Musliyar delivered the inaugural address. Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran, Karnataka Speaker U.T. Khader, MP Rajmohan Unnithan, MLAs M. Rajagopalan and N.A. Nellikkunnu, Adv. C.H. Kunhambu, E. Chandrasekharan, A.K.M. Ashraf, Chinmaya Mission Kerala State President Vivekananda Saraswathi, Father Mathew Baby Marthoma, and Kallatra Mahin Haji were among those who attended.
C. Muhammad Faizi and Rahmathullah Saqafi Elamaram delivered the keynote address. Abdul Khader Madani welcomed the gathering, while Abdul Khadir Saqafi proposed the vote of thanks.
Held under the theme “With Humanity”, the Kerala Yatra will travel through various districts of the state for 16 days and will conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on January 16.DD
