Srinagar, (DD): As the nation marked Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday, top political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha paid heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

Prime Minister Modi extended greetings to the nation and remembered the fallen heroes with deep reverence. “Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of the valour and supreme sacrifice of our soldiers. Their indomitable spirit and devotion to duty will continue to inspire generations,” he said in a message shared on social media.

Home Minister Amit Shah described the day as a proud and defining moment in India’s military history. Recalling Operation Vijay, he said the bravery with which Indian forces repelled enemy intrusions set a shining example for the world. “India will forever remain indebted to our martyrs who sacrificed everything for the honour of the motherland,” he stated.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also offered his respects, calling the victory in Kargil a testimony to the unmatched courage of the Indian Army. “Our soldiers showed extraordinary grit in the face of extreme adversity. Their heroism will never be forgotten,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha also paid homage, stating, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I bow in respect to our brave martyrs. They displayed exceptional courage while fighting in the most hostile terrain on earth. Their gallantry and sacrifice will forever remain etched in our national consciousness.”

Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s triumph over Pakistani infiltrators in 1999. The war, fought in the rugged heights of Ladakh, remains a symbol of the Indian Army’s unmatched determination, patriotism, and resilience(DD)
