Leh,DD, PM National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) was organized at Government ITI Leh and Government ITI Kargil on 10th of November 2025.

This event is a part of the nationwide PM National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) initiative, which is mandated by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, to be organized monthly across all States & UTs of the country.

The objective of the mela is to promote apprenticeship training under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), create greater awareness about the Apprentices Act, 1961, and ensure enhanced establishments participation in skilling youth through on-the-job training opportunities.

At Government ITI Leh, the event was graced by Smt. Bhanu Prabha (IAS), Administrative Secretary, Technical Education and Skill Development Department, UT of Ladakh.

In her address, the Secretary encouraged candidates to take advantage of the skill training opportunities available under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and urged establishments to actively participate by engaging apprentices under the NAPS.

Representatives from several government departments and organizations participated in the event, including SNM Hospital Leh, Mechanical Division Kargil, Animal Husbandry Department Leh, PHE Department Leh, Industries & Commerce Department Kargil, and Maruti Suzuki ARENA (Druk Auto Zone) Leh.

Various establishments that had engaged apprentices highlighted that the scheme helps them train manpower according to industry needs, while for students, it provides valuable hands-on practical skill training opportunities within their hometowns and in the industries or establishments of their choice.

Currently in Ladakh 26 candidates have been trained under PMNAPS, while some are still undergoing their training. The candidates and students present during the event showed great enthusiasm and interest in enrolling as apprentices.DD
