Police Arrest 7 Drug Peddlers Across Kashmir; Contraband Seized

Srinagar, (DD)Continuing its crackdown on the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested seven drug peddlers, including a woman, in multiple operations across the Kashmir valley. Significant quantities of contraband substances have been recovered during these actions.

Baramulla:
A police team from Police Station Kreeri intercepted a Baleno vehicle (Reg. No. DL5CN 7586) at a checkpoint near Chek Tappar Kreeri. Upon search, 78 grams and 55 grams of Charas-like substances, along with 125 and 30 strips of Tapentadol HCL, were recovered. The accused were identified as Faizan Bukhari, son of Bashir Ahmad Bukhari of Wani Mohalla Kreeri, and a woman from Peer Mohalla Kreeri. Both were arrested on the spot.

In another operation, Palhallan Police Post intercepted a truck (Reg. No. JK05A-2377) at NHW Tapper. 250 grams of poppy straw-like substance was seized from the vehicle. The driver, Mohammad Ashraf Kumar, son of Mohammad Subhan Kumar of Braman Rohama, was arrested and the truck was seized.

Budgam:
Acting on specific input, Police Post Narbal raided a bakery shop named Royal Star at Narbal Chowk in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses. During the search, four sticks of Charas-like substance (124 grams) wrapped in corn husk were recovered. Two accused, Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh and Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, both sons of Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh of Sheikh Mohalla Sultanpora Kandi Baramulla, were arrested on the spot.

Awantipora:
During routine patrolling at Padgampora Crossing, police arrested two drug consumers: Faisal Manzoor Reshi of Herpora Awantipora and Mudakir Hussain of Lehra Kalimusta Gool Ramban. Both admitted to regular drug use and were shifted to the Drug De-addiction Centre in Tral. Medical tests confirmed narcotic substance consumption.

Legal Action:
FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations are underway.

Appeal to Public:
Police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any information related to drug peddling or other illegal activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112.(DD)
