Police Arrests Cash Snatcher in Ramnagar

Udhampur:DD, Police today claimed to have arrested an alleged cash snatcher from Ramnagar, and recovered the stolen cash from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Vijay Singh alias Pickel, son of Joginder Singh, resident of Sewna Rang, Tehsil Ramnagar, Udhampur.
Police said that the police station Ramnagar received a written complaint from Kartar Chand, son of Massu, resident of Prey, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur, stating that he had withdrawn ₹ 50,000 from his bank account.
“As he stepped out of the bank premises, an unidentified person snatched his handbag containing the said cash and fled from the spot,” the police said in a statement, quoting the complaint.


Taking cognizance of the matter, a case FIR No 172 of 2025 under section 304 BNS was registered at PS Ramnagar, and investigation was set into motion.
A special police team led by the SHO PS Ramnagar was constituted to trace out the accused person.
During the investigation, with the help of CCTV footage, human intelligence and technical assistance, the accused was identified as Vijay Singh alias Pickel.
After sustained and meticulous efforts, the police team successfully arrested the accused. Out of the stolen ₹ 50,000, an amount of ₹ 47,450 has been recovered from his possession. Further investigation in the case is in progress.DD
