IMRAN SHAH

Kishtwar, DD, In continuation of its efforts to spread awareness about the newly enacted criminal laws, District Police Kishtwar organized an awareness session at University Campus Kishtwar. The session was conducted by Addl. SP Kishtwar Pawan Sharma along with Dy. SP Vijay Kumar, SDPO Marwah, and was attended by students of the 1st and 3rd semesters (approximately 45-50 students).

During the session, the students were briefed on the key aspects of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act. Special emphasis was laid on the relevance of these new laws in daily life, along with the use of technology in the legal framework, including e-Summons and e-Sakshya.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and seeking clarifications on various legal provisions. The participants appreciated the initiative taken by District Police Kishtwar and emphasized the need for more such informative sessions to enhance legal literacy among students.

District Police Kishtwar remains committed to engaging with educational institutions and the youth to create awareness about crucial legal reforms for a more informed and responsible society.DD
